Born Marc Roussel on June 30, 1981, in rural Canada, Marc discovered his passion for music at an early age, picking up the guitar at 14. Immersed in progressive rock and metal, he was quickly drawn to bands and artists who treated music as a vehicle for storytelling and emotional depth. In his early formative years, the influence of Dream Theater played a key role in shaping his understanding of composition, structure, and dynamics, while guitarists such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and John Petrucci helped define his melodic sensibility and expressive approach to the instrument.
As his musical identity evolved, Marc’s listening expanded toward artists known for atmosphere, texture, and cinematic depth. The dark, emotive soundscapes of Katatonia and the modern progressive landscapes of Riverside left a lasting imprint on his work. More recently, artists like Plini have influenced Marc’s approach to tone and sonic clarity—not in style, but in the pursuit of a modern, articulate guitar sound. The ambient and emotionally rich compositions of David Maxim Micic further inspired Marc’s use of space, layering, and cinematic flow within instrumental arrangements.
A self-taught musician, producer, and audio engineer, Marc developed his craft independently through years of experimentation and refinement. He blends instrumental melody in the spirit of Steve Vai with atmospheric, cinematic arrangements drawn from modern progressive and ambient influences, creating music that balances technical expression with emotional restraint and narrative intent.
Marc’s debut release, A Beautiful Symphony, laid the foundation for his musical identity, introducing melodic guitar-driven compositions supported by layered textures. This was followed by Constellation Orion, which expanded his sonic palette and deepened his atmospheric approach. In 2023, the EP About Time marked a period of reflection and transition, capturing a more mature and introspective sound.
The 2024 album A Journey into a Black Hole represented a major turning point, pushing Marc’s music further into cinematic and conceptual territory. Noted for its cohesion and emotional depth, the album explored themes of isolation, transformation, and inner conflict, establishing the conceptual groundwork for his ongoing Stories era.
This narrative continued through singles such as Once Upon a Time (December 2024) and The Final Tragedy, later enriched by A Short Story in 2025. That same year, Marc released the standalone single No Path to Salvation, further solidifying his signature blend of guitar-driven melody and atmospheric intensity. His upcoming single, Beyond the Last Page, serves as a bridge toward his most ambitious project to date.
Set for release in 2026, Stories We Don’t Tell is a full-length album that brings together years of artistic evolution—blending expressive instrumental melodies, ambient textures, and cinematic progressive arrangements into a cohesive emotional journey. Through his music, Marc Roussel invites listeners into immersive soundscapes where melody, texture, and emotion speak louder than words.
